| Sid Thorne The committee, members and friends of the Midlands & Northern Rhodesian Ridgeback Club offer their heartfelt condolences to Pat Thorne, on the tragic and all too early passing of her husband Sid. After a long battle with debilitating disease he slipped away quietly on Saturday 9th January 2010.  Sid had been a club member for many years, serving as a valued
member of the committee and was instrumental in the setting up of
Midlands & Northern Rescue. He will be sorely missed by all.The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday 20th January 2010 at Southport Crematorium, Southport Road, PR8 5JQ. No flowers please, but should anyone care to make a donation it will be shared between The Parkinson Society and Midlands & Northern Ridgeback Rescue. |

At all times our main concern is for Rhodesian Ridgebacks and for those that have an interest in them. To this end the club organizes various events throughout the calendar year which hopefully prove to be both informative and entertaining.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of all Ridgeback Clubs, the number of Ridgebacks that are in need of re-homing continues to grow. Proceeds from all our club activities are utilised in aiding the rescue of these unfortunate dogs. We ask, therefore, that you particularly check out our Club Events and Merchandise Pages.

It has come to the notice of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Breed Clubs that some unscrupulous breeders are passing off Rhodesian Ridgebacks of incorrect colours, as "rare and correct"- please be careful. The correct colours allowed by the breed standard, as defined by The Kennel Club, are Light Wheaten to Red Wheaten and not colours such as black and tan (Doberman colouring) or brindle. Occasionally, due to a recessive genes, silver/grey, blue, black & tan or brindle coloured puppies are born. They should never be shown, never be used in a breeding programme and should be registered as "non standard" colour; their purchase price should reflect this. The Kennel Club recommends that these puppies should have their registration documents endorsed by the breeder accordingly.
RESCUE APPEAL UPDATE - 25th February 2009The immediate
urgency of our desperate financial situation at this time last year has for
the moment been alleviated. This has been due, in no small part, to the
efforts of our friends and supporters. It's not to say considering the
current financial climate that the situation will not deteriorate. We still
expect an increase in the number of dogs needing our help. Thank You |
