Awarded Best Breed Club Stand in the Hound Group at Crufts

Stand at CruftsWe are extremely proud to announce that at Crufts, once again the club was awarded the trophy for Best Breed Club Stand in the Hound Group! This was the fifth time that we have been presented with this award and of course the first time under the sponsorship of DFS, the new sponsors of Crufts. We would like to thank them for the magnificent glass trophy and of course thanks to Gill Lawless and everyone else who helped to prepare and man the stand on the day.

11.03.2010 Unwanted Clothing Collection

Alison Wigglesworth is making an "unwanted clothing collection" with proceeds to be donated to Midlands & Northern Ridgeback Rescue.

Full Bin LinersShe has already started to collect in the village where she lives and asks that anyone attending the Club Open Show on Sunday 21st March 2010, and has unwanted clothing, shoes or handbags, lurking in their drawers and wardrobes, put it all in a bin liner and bring it along to the show.

Please take a few moments to root out anything that you may no longer want and could aid in raising funds for rescue.

Thank You

CH GUNTHWAITE DIAMOND LIL JW

At all times our main concern is for Rhodesian Ridgebacks and for those that have an interest in them. To this end the club organizes various events throughout the calendar year which hopefully prove to be both informative and entertaining.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of all Ridgeback Clubs, the number of Ridgebacks that are in need of re-homing continues to grow. Proceeds from all our club activities are utilised in aiding the rescue of these unfortunate dogs. We ask, therefore, that you particularly check out our Club Events and Merchandise Pages.

We hope you enjoy browsing our web site and that it proves useful.

A WORD OF CAUTION TO PUPPY BUYERS

It has come to the notice of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Breed Clubs that some unscrupulous breeders are passing off Rhodesian Ridgebacks of incorrect  colours, as "rare and correct"- please be careful. The correct colours allowed by the breed standard, as defined by The Kennel Club, are Light Wheaten to Red Wheaten and not colours such as black and tan (Doberman colouring) or brindle. Occasionally, due to a recessive genes, silver/grey, blue, black & tan or brindle coloured puppies are born. They should never be shown, never be used in a breeding programme and should be registered as "non standard" colour; their purchase price should reflect this. The Kennel Club recommends that these puppies should have their registration documents endorsed by the breeder accordingly.

RESCUE APPEAL UPDATE -  11th March 2010

Over the last year, despite a lot of dogs needing kennelling and medical attention, rescue funds have remained on a pretty even keel. Once again, this has been due, in no small part, to the efforts of our friends and supporters all of whom we thank unreservedly. Of late the number of dogs in need of re-homing has increased dramatically, as no doubt will the associated expenses. It would be greatly appreciated if those friends and supporters who have helped in past years, are able to  continue in their efforts to provide funds for the unfortunate dogs that need our help. Of course anyone else who would like to involve themselves would be most welcome.

If you would like to help, or indeed have an interest in re-homing a Ridgeback, please go to the Rescue Website for further details.

Thank You
