Awarded Best Breed Club Stand in the Hound Group at Crufts

Stand at CruftsWe are extremely proud to announce that at Crufts, once again the club was awarded the trophy for Best Breed Club Stand in the Hound Group! This was the fifth time that we have been presented with this award and of course the first time under the sponsorship of DFS, the new sponsors of Crufts. We would like to thank them for the magnificent glass trophy and of course thanks to Gill Lawless and everyone else who helped to prepare and man the stand on the day.

11.03.2010 Unwanted Clothing Collection

Alison Wigglesworth is making an "unwanted clothing collection" with proceeds to be donated to Midlands & Northern Ridgeback Rescue.

Full Bin LinersShe has already started to collect in the village where she lives and asks that anyone attending the Club Open Show on Sunday 21st March 2010, and has unwanted clothing, shoes or handbags, lurking in their drawers and wardrobes, put it all in a bin liner and bring it along to the show.

Please take a few moments to root out anything that you may no longer want and could aid in raising funds for rescue.

Thank You

The committee, members and friends of the Midlands & Northern Rhodesian Ridgeback Club offer their heartfelt condolences to Pat Thorne, on the tragic and all too early passing of her husband Sid. After a long battle with debilitating disease he slipped away quietly on Saturday 9th January 2010.

LilySid had been a club member for many years, serving as a valued member of the committee and was instrumental in the setting up of Midlands & Northern Rescue. He will be sorely missed by all.

The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday 20th January 2010 at Southport Crematorium, Southport Road, PR8 5JQ. No flowers please, but should anyone care to make a donation it will be shared between The Parkinson Society and Midlands & Northern Ridgeback Rescue.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Breed Council

The Breed Council representing all four Rhodesian Ridgeback Clubs in Britain meets twice a year to discuss all Rhodesian Ridgeback related issues. Its function is to collate the collective views of all clubs and present them to The Kennel Club. News of The Breed Council activities will be posted as available.

Discover Dogs

Discover Dogs is becoming increasingly popular. In future on ridgeback day at Crufts, the stand will be manned, and ridgebacked, by some of our rescued Ridgebacks. We also attend Discover Dogs at Earls Court, London, in November and in May we represent Rhodesian Ridgebacks at the "All About Dogs" exhibition in Essex. We always need people to help with these events so if you would care to volunteer your services for a couple of hours it will alleviate the strain on the regulars who do a full days stint, which is unfair on their Ridgebacks. With hundreds of people milling around asking questions, some sensible, some ridiculous, even Ridgebacks get tired out. As long as your dog is "bombproof" and you like talking (and lets face it what RR owner doesn't) Please offer to help.
